Q. Are there any hidden costs, fees or add-ons to the homeowner?
A. No, there is no cost to the homeowner and there are no hidden fees or charges.

Q. Do I have to buy or sell anything to join or sustain +5 Plan participation?
A. No, the only cost to you is what you would normally pay to the contractor for the electrical wiring.

Q. When does the +5 Plan take affect?
A. It takes affect after the one-year home builder’s warranty expires and runs for 5 years after that.

Q. I am planning on building a new home next year.
Will I be able to get the +5 plan then?
A. Yes, the +5 Plan is here to stay. We are a non-profit company dedicated to advancing professional practices for residential electricians and contractors and the safety of homeowners.

Q. My builder says that I don't need the plan, his contractor is a friend of his.
A. Without +5, you have no written guarantee that anyone can repair your home after one year.

 

Q. What if the contractor I have wire my home goes out of business or cannot service my home?
A. The +5 Plan covers your home, we have other qualified contractors willing to service your home under the Plus 5 Protection Plan.

Q. I am remodeling my home. Can the +5 Plan cover my addition/remodel?
A. The +5 Plan always covers new homes. Please refer to your local +5 representative for additions and remodels.


Q. Does the +5 Plan cover cable TV, computer or telephone installations?
A. The +5 Plan covers the electrical installation in all areas. In some areas, cable, TV, computer, and telephone installation protection plans are available as well. Contact your local office to determine what additional coverage can be added to your +5 Plan.
